Air Dry is added to any unwaxed polyester resin, vinylester resin, tooling gelcoat or gel coat to create a wax surface which causes the resin to cure. Air dry is added to an unwaxed resin or gelcoat at 2.5% v/v. Air dry is not MEKP catalyst, it is only a wax additive. Without adding air dry to an unwaxed resin product the resin will remain tacky even when catalyzed in the correct ratio. Air dry is often added to the final mixture of resin over a complex lamination or multiple layer application of gel coat.
